The Deerslayer-James F Cooper age appropriate?

My 11 year old daughter wants to read The Deerslayer as a free read, since several of her Spelling Wisdom exercises have come from this book the past few weeks. I’ve looked on Amazon to find out what the average age level it is, as far as content, but I can’t find anything. I’ve not read it, so I’m not sure it would be acceptable for her to read it at this age. I did see on Amazon there is some “romance” in there?
Anyone have any advice on this book?
