    I just have to say…

    THANK YOU SCM!!!

We just got our Module 5 Family Study Handbook. This is the first time in 6 years of homeschooling that I opened the ‘plan’ for the year and thought, “This makes sense!”

We have used many other curriculums, and every time I have opened the materials I have had to ‘tweak’ and adjust…and sometimes I felt that I needed a Master’s Degree just to understand how to organize our homeschooling week :).

All of the books recommended are SO much more interesting than other recommendations. The kids are so interested in the history books that I am having trouble keeping them from getting started before next week. It is great to see the effect that real, living books have on kids. They are genuinely hungry to read.

My 11yo, math-resistant daughter opened the Business math book and has worked through the first month of exercises in two days! Obviously, I won’t keep her at that pace…but just to see her excited about math is AWESOME!

We started on poetry this morning (Robert Louis Stevenson’s “A Child’s Garden of Verses”) and they actually discussed the mood of the poem – unprompted!

I know that there are different ‘languages’ in homeschooling – different styles that work for different parents and kids. But I am just so relieved to have found someone who speaks MY language!

    THANK YOU!!!

Servingwithjoy, I know what you mean by “speaking my language”! I was lucky enough to find SCM 8 weeks into our homeschool journey, after realizing there was something wrong with the boxed curriculum approach we started with. After returning the boxed curriculum, I began using resources recommended by SCM guide. I have yet to be disappointed with the items I have used. There have been resources I have skipped only because I think it would be to much at once for my daughter to handle. For instance, Letters from Egypt, which I am thoroughly enjoying, would be to much reading for us right now. I am reading Ancient Egypt and her Neighbors and we are already having to break that reading up into several days so that it stays enjoyable. I would rather her know a lot about a little than little about a lot. I love that SCM resources don’t pressure into using it exactly, it is just a guide. They definitely speak my language!!! This forum is also my favorite!!! Helpful without being critical!!!!

I couldn’t agree more.  SCM definitely speaks my language, too.  I love it!
