Yesterday I gave both dc the reading level assessment found here: http://a2zhomeschooling.com/main_articles/reading_level_assessment/. Ds10 (4th grade) tested at 5th grade level. Dd6.5 knew words all the way to 4th grade. I know how to check my son’s comprehension–have him narrate to me after he reads. I’m wondering about my 6yo. As many of you know, she has a language delay (which is slowly improving), but she still does not answer questions consistently. If I asked her to tell me about what she read, she probably would not answer. Any ideas? Or should I even be concerned with that right now?

    TIA,

I don’t have any experiential or professionally advice but for my boys, even though they give good narrations, what we are reading will come out in their play. It becomes part of them so is a natural extension. There are different ways to narrate such as drawing a picture, making a Lego scene, etc. She’s 6 so I wouldn’t worry.
