We use it but since we haven’t used other programs I can’t really compare. It is generally thought to be slightly easier than other programs. My girls always did really well on the standardized test so it can’t be too far off of grade level.
I find that it is typically one full grade behind the public schools in our area. My oldest, who is strong in Math, did TT7 when he was in 4th-5th grade.
I definitely consider it a full year behind. They have great samples and placement tests on their website, so be sure to check that out before you order. As long as you get the right level, it is an awesome curriculum!
I’d say a full year behind too. I also wondered if anyone that uses TT can answer my question about the review in the books? (not to hijack the thread, but I think it applies to the grade level question too) My daughter is doing TT3 and I just got TT4 and looked through it, it looks like major review until almost 2/3 of the way through the book. Are they all like that? I am all for review, but I think my daughter will be very burnt out and bored if we do all the review (I know we can skip some if I choose) but then it seems like a lot of money to have that much review. Thanks
Yes, TT does review the same concepts every year. But the problems are more difficult and they may teach more of the concept than what was taught the year before. That is kind of the name of the game with a spiral program.
It is a little more difficult with TT to skip problems or lessons because the new teaching is woven in.
