I have LFC, primer A, and I am prepping for the start of our school year. I have read the intro to the book, printed off the free flashcards from the website, and I think I am ready to teach latin…..I think….
While I am excited to learn the language along side my daughter and convinced of the benefits of learning Latin, I am very nervous as it seems a little daunting! I watched the first DVD session, and I couldn’t keep up with those kids’ chants for the life of me!!!!
What advise, tips, encouragement can you give a Momma trying Latin for the first time with a 3rd grader?
Also, if you have tried LFC, have you used many pages out of the Activity book? Is it beneficial learning experience or a time filler?
I’m beginning this curriculum this year with a 12 yr. old. so I don’t have anything to add except regarding the activity book; I think it depends upon the child.
Mine have been learning Hebrew since they were 6 and my dd has always enjoyed the extra activity books ,that are optional, and it has been good enforcement; whereas my son considers them a waste of time.
Rachel…I was wondering what curriculum you have used for Hebrew? Also, do you mainly use it for Scripture study or have you found other uses for it as well?
We use Latin for Children also. We just tried our best with open books in our lap to chant along. Then we’d listen to the cd every day. We always started out looking at the book while chanting, and that helped. This curriculum is not hard to work with…we just took it slow and made it through about half of it before we broke for the summer…we’ll start back up in the fall! best wishes!
