  • We have been doing a program this year that you can just open and go. It has some CM components and I THOUGHT it would make my life easier during this season but to the contrary…it simply has not. We have 4 beautiful girls that range in age from 8-8mths. We have been using two separate programs for the 8 and 6 yr olds. I have come to find out how time consuming it is. They now are almost to the point of begging to do science and history together. I have finally agreed (I didn’t want to let the idea of thinking I had found the “perfect” curriculum and would stay with it always) and such a weight has been lifted off! With my husband deployed, we need something that we can do a lot together. I have known about SCM since before we moved to NE GA almost 5 yrs ago now. I want the time to spend with my children loving to learn…not wanting to check a box that it’s “done”. Thank you for having this…our family needs the simplicity of CM right now.

I am so happy that your business has done well. Even though I never used anything on here…I have always dropped SCM in conversation.

We will have a 9yr old, 6.5yr old, 4yr old and the baby will be 1yr in September. If anyone can give me ANY advice as to make it simple and more enjoyable for my children, please do not hesitate to tell me. Thank you 🙂

I would highly recommend running to the SCM curriculum guide and start there. Combine all the family subjects and your life will be so much saner. You can do this and will do wonderfully.

Oh April, you have come to the right place. Like Shanna suggested looking and mulling over the curriculum guide suggestions and resources is a great place to start.

I know when I started reading about and using CM, I felt that it was a gift from God. I no longer had to look at schooling my children from the context of wkbks and curriculum…it was an adventure to learn. Adventure to love to learn and instill good learning habits in my dc. Not for the sake of knowledge but for the sake of knowing God and gleaning knowledge and understanding from the creator of all things. I have enjoyed learning along side my DC. But I have to admit I still like checking off the box (in SCM organizer, the circle) “Finished” I am still a list person and like things to be checked off. 😆

I will have a 9yr ds, 7yr dd, 5yr ds, 3 yr dd, and 9 mo. ds for next year..so our families are similar.

    Blessings,

    Shelly

Welcome April. I have learned so much from this website and the women who visit this forum. I am only homeschooling one daughter but have piece by piece added cm subjects to our daily schooling. I agree about following the guide here on this website. I also noticed that you live in NE GA, so do we. We live in Clarkesville. Do you belong to a local support group here. We belong to Christian Home Educators of Habersham and there are a few CMers in the group. If you would like to email me offline, please do so. knechtslodge@yahoo.com.

    In Christ,

    Diane
