Here in South Central Wisconsin I LOVE Cedar Crest Blue Moon ice cream. I’ve heard you can only get it in the midwest? I also love Schwanz Ice Cream which is a Wisconsin brand too. But that you have to order from a delivery man who drives a special truck and I couldn’t afford to get it any more. They offered many different kinds too.
We make ice cream but I haven’t gotten beyond vanilla yet!

In MO we like the Central Dairy place in Jefferson City, although we don’t go there much now. lol (Being allergic to dairy has its moments.) We really like their Extreme Moose Tracks. YUM! Premium chocolate ice cream with fudge running through it, and tons of peanut butter cups in it. When you order it in a cup, the serving is 3 huge scoops.
Okay, anyway….
@blue j – I’d love your recipe for almond ice cream. We need one! =) We can’t do coconut of any type – everytime I try coconut, my coconut allergic people have issues. sigh…

@chocodog, Doug and I went to college in the U. P., Lake Superior State in the Soo. Even though we both grew up downstate and now live in Illinois, the U.P. is still home. We usually visit the U. P. about once a year, camping with college friends and visiting some of our favorite places. We’ve been to Copper Harbor in summer and fall. Love the last bit of the drive through all the trees!

what a fun post! We have been making our own here lately. Made some yummy strawberry, vanilla bean and also a strawberry sorbet. We have really enjoyed these…. but, we also live very near the Blue Bell Creamery so we get some yummy flavors there, too. My favorite is the birthday cake! This makes me want to plan a trip out there soon!

@Linda: When my daughter and I went to Germany this April, we ate as much gelato as we could get. I don’t think ice cream is as flavorful as that Italian goodness. Yum…Rum!

Ughhhh I miss ice cream! My DD is allergic to dairy, so we make our own ice cream/sherbert out of rice or soy milk. But there really is nothing like a big scoop at a shop. My favorite was/is anything chocolate! What a fun thread. Now I feel like making some!
