CarmenParticipantHi moms, besides next year planning, I am also planning summer reading for my 7.5 years old son and 5 years old daughter. Any book list you have been using for your children?
Thank you very much! Carmen
LovinlifeParticipantSecrets at Sea by Richard Peck. Our 5 & 4 year old LOVE it, and the hubby and I do too! Happy Reading!
CarmenParticipantThanks! Just reserved it from my library!
Wings2flyParticipantDo you mean for you to read as a read-aloud, or beginning readers for your children to read?
For read-alouds, I like the suggestions here on SCM for the Early Years, for my dd5 (and my ds8 enjoys them, too).

We are reading the Ragedy Ann and Andy stories right now and just finished Beatrix Potter, which we all enjoyed. We also like the Katie stories on that list.
Also check Sonlight’s catalog for ideas.
CarmenParticipantI already reserved those read-aloud books on SCM list for my children. I would like to get some book list for beginning readers.
sherazParticipantCarmen, there are some good lists in books that you can buy and reference for reading of all ages:
http://www.amazon.com/Who-Should-We-Then-Read/dp/0970962819 She has 2 volumes and you save shipping when you order both. I’ve met her – she is an amazing woman. =)

Also here are some threads with books suggested in them:

CarmenParticipantWow, thanks for your list, that’s very helpful! Thank you
greenebaltsParticipantHere’s a blog post I did a while back regarding books we’ve read and loved for preschool through 2nd grade.

I would recommend Sonlight book lists and Yesterdays Classics for further titles.
Blessings,
Melissa
CarmenParticipantMelissa, I love your list. Time for me to reserve books for the summer. Thanks.
