Hi moms, do you have a list of summer reading for grade 1-3 as a reference to me? Any suggestions are welcome!

I don’t have a formal list, as many do, but I have some suggestions:
Chapter Books:
Sarah, Plain and Tall series
The Boxcar Children (first 19 books)
The Hundred Dresses
Gentle Ben
Trumpet of the Swan
The Cricket in Times Square
Stuart Little
Audiobooks:
any of the Lamplighter Theater Audio Dramas (so worth it!)
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Winnie-the-Pooh/The House at Pooh Corner (so much fun to listen to all their voices)
Picture Books/Fun Books
Frederick
any books by Tomie dePaola (Strega Nona, Nana Upstairs, Nana Downstairs, First One Foot, Now the Other)
Jumanji, Zathura
Where’s Waldo? (my kids love these for road trips)
I will probably think of more, but that’s a pretty good start!

Tomie dePaola was my daughter’s favorite when she was younger. When I found out I was pregnant I bought her The Baby Sister
I hope more people can add on to the list of audiobooks. I never really used them before, but I think it might be something fun and new for the kids to have on our ‘lazy days.’

Your Story Hour audios are good. Some might not be appropriate for your children, but our two 7YOs do listen to many of them. They are not bad, just sometimes deal with serious subject matter. Would just depend on your own feelings about what is appropriate.

These are all the audios in their entirety so will give you a good idea of content as well as possible stories you can use right away and for no cost! 🙂
My children LOVED, LOVED Mr. Popper’s Penguins this past year. We are reading the original A Bear Called Paddington and a Thornton Burgess book about Peter Cottontail as well.
We have read Caterpillar Green a few times. It is put out by Rod&Staff books. I am searching for more of their books at used sales actually.
