I’m browsing children’s encyclopedia’s to purchase and they all seem to use the Big Bang Theory and other ages of creation that we don’t agree with. I guess my questions are
1 – Do we even need an encyclopedia when using living books/internet?
2 – Are there any Christian children’s encyclopedia’s?

We bought encyclopedias just before starting CM, and we haven’t used them. Most expensive mistake I’ve made. We always end up on the internet. They are a waste of space so far, but can’t seem to get rid of them since I paid for them, lol!

We have several children’s encyclopedias and I don’t think any of them pass the “living book” test. They often have several contributers instead of one author and the language is dumbed down. There are more graphics on the page than text.
I don’t know of any Christian children’s encyclopedias. In regards to the evolutionary content, I sometimes paper clip the pages together and sometimes point it out and talk to them about it.

This is the only encyclopedia type book that I have found that does not push Big Bang, evolutionary theory, etc. http://www.newleafpublishinggroup.com/product_info.php?products_id=918
You can look at a pretty good sample at that link. If you decide you want it, do not order an older copy. I made that mistake and the beginning info is not the same.
Regarding encyclopedias in general, while we don’t use them to just sit down and read, I do find them helpful for when we need to look up something quickly. I don’t like for my kids to look up things online because of all the garbage that is out there, so the encyclopedias are handy for that.
