DS will be in 4th grade next year and enjoys reading and works well independently. We still do a “morning basket” together and I plan to continue having a science read aloud as part of that, along with doing nature study as a family. However, as he will be in 4th next year I am looking to add something else for science for him to do independently. I am looking at either Storybook of Science or Beautiful Feet Books program called History of Science. I understand that experiments will not be independent, and I am looking to stretch either one out over several years with just one chapter/lesson per week. Any thoughts on which is better? He really enjoys history, but I am not sure if History of Science will be too much to add on? How long does one lesson take? Thoughts on the experiments?

I have done both. Both my kids loved Storybook of science. That would be super easy to add in. The other would be tougher and some of the books may be too heavy. My kids were really lost on a few and I had to read them. My kids at the time were 3rd & 4th grade.

My 4th grader is loving Storybook of Science!! I’ve been wanting to use this book for a long time and now that we are I wish we had used it with our other dc (well, one of them did use it for a bit but I think he was a wee bit old for it). I’m familiar with BF but not their science curriculum.
