I just ordered Story of the Greeks used, but I got the third edition instead of the fourth. Oops! Just FYI, while you are shopping, there were some pretty significant changes between the third and fourth editions. I should have researched better. 🙂
How much would the edition impact using the SCM guides? Honestly, I’m a little annoyed that she’s already on the 4th edition. I remember when it came out (and bought it then). I’ve upgraded to a newer edition since 1st, but jeesh…another “upgrade”? I’m not even sure which edition I have now — might just be the 2nd. :/
@andream, I’m sorry I don’t know yet. I’m working on it as time permits, but this week begins five weeks of back-to-back conventions and I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to devote to it on the road. I promise I’ll keep working on it, but I can’t say yet when it will be done.
Can anyone comment on the differences. I was hoping the purchase Yesturday’s Classics book bundle (I’m assuming theirs is the first edition) that includes this and a few other recommended titles. Is there a reason we should still purchase the newer edition?
I have read it in the YC collection and would not purchase it again simply because the other books come with it too. I do not think that there are so many things in it that I couldn’t discuss myself. Although the maps would be handy. =)
I was going to re-purchase the newer one. We also have the YC edition and I think my DC will appreciate the pictures as well as the updates on cavemen. If it was only a book that we will use for a week or so, I’d probably stick with YC, but it looks like it is our main book, so I want it to be as enjoyable as possible!
