So give me some ideas for how to sort all these kid crafty items. Popsicle sticks, yarn, beads, glue, crayons/markers, paper, etc, etc, etc. I have a couple plastic drawers, a big plastic bin, and a bunch of boxes. But I only have a closet to store it in. Nothing can be out in the room. How do you store yours?

    Thanks for any ideas,

    Sara  🙂

I like jars for popsicle sticks and beads. Crayons go in a plastic school supply box. Markers stand in a jar. Paper lays flat; still haven’t found a creative way to store paper…sigh.

I also store the kids’ stuff in a closet, but I’m in the process of transferring it at to a cabinet where they can access it themselves more easily.

Stacking upward works best for me. I like those stackable plastic drawers so I can just fit everything into that.

I collect pottery and baskets to store a lot of things. Tackle boxes are awesome though. They have all those neat spaces! I keep all the paints, messy stuff, and science kits in our kitchen because it is the only safe place to do that stuff.

We have a lot of stuff stored in jars like Lidsey.  I save spaghetti sauce jars etc when we use them.  I use an over the door rack to store them in so I can see them all at once and so they do not take up valuable shelf space.  like here  http://www.organizeit.com/pojobar6otd.asp

I also have an over the door shoe pocket for things like scissors, glue bottles etc.  Like here http://www.amazon.com/Household-Essentials-01882-20-Pocket-Organizer/dp/B0000CNQZ9

    laurap,

That is a great idea to store things on the back of a door in jars!!! Thanks for the idea.

Thank you for all the ideas.  laurap, that is an awesome idea!  Except I have a double bi-folding door to my closet.  🙁  But I am keeping that idea in mind for other rooms and storage dilemmas!  🙂  I ended up taking over one of my bookshelves and using some jars, baby formula cans, and pencil boxes, along with a few plastic bins of different sizes.  Also had a couple plastic drawers.  I think I want to get a few baskets or open bins or whatnots to finish up a few things like yarn, fabric, and coloring books (and my mending pile – out where I see it, kwim?  ;).  But otherwise it is done, the kids can access pretty much everything they need access to, and you can see everything.  Woo-hoo!  I did post pics on my FB, if you want to have a peek:
