My 14 year old is reading Stories of America.  She is ADHD and has trouble putting it all together.  We read 1 chapter at a time and are printing  pictures from the web that illustrate each chapter.  In essence, we are creating our own visual timeline to go with the book with dates….. Can anyone else suggest ways to retain the info she is reading?

are you having her do narration?  that should help tremendously with retention.  I’ve found that my daughter that struggles with retention a bit  really benefits if I stop after every few paragraphs and have her do a quick narration… so we’re narrating throughout the chapter.  This also helps my older daughter (who has no issues with retention) when we read a more challenging book
