Oh, another one.. what about something like Family Lit where you are not sure of the books you are going to do. You want to schedule it, but need to add the books as you decided/get them?
More – what about literature for the kids. I know all the books I want them to do. I would like to have a heading of personal literature and then under it have the books listed. I do not want chapters only the title. Then after they are done i will just check finished and I would like the next book to pop up.
– want to input it all right now – but don’t know dates….. If you aren’t already using the organizer – just put things in now with today for the start date (or Use after – for the things you know you will use after another resource). You can always change the start date later if you want (if you aren’t going to use the resource right when you start…) – for the most part I don’t need things to have specific dates…
– fastest way to add items – I don’t know of any ways to speed up entering a resource except – if you have the ISBN, for most things it will put in the basic information, and then you enter the chapters/division.
– want to add something to an existing resource – right now, there isn’t an easy way to do this – you either have to enter the whole resource yourself, or you need to do some other way to remind yourself (one option being to make a little quiz resource and schedule the approx date you think it will be.) – VERY SOON you will be able to modify existing resources…. I believe it is part of the update they have been testing.
– family lit where not sure of resources yet – but want on schedule – For now, make a resource called familiy lit – you could have a division called “books” and guess a number of them. You can either later schedule the actual books – or you can just keep the family book resource and either edit the divisions to name the books, or put the book names in the note section.
– kids lit where you don’t want chapters – you have a few choices here…. most people leave the chapters in and just mark them done…. another option is like the family lit choice I put – make one named “child’s name – lit” – make the division “book”, and put in the book titles as divisions. – I know on the wish list, there is the option to not have the chapters listed…
hope that helps! I find cool ways to do things that I don’t think about until people ask!
Entering the chapters: I really like it when there is some kind of chapter heading so I often go through the trouble of entering them. Here is how I have been doing it. Of course, if you have a paper book and no way to find the table of contents online, you just have to suck it up and type them in. But often I can find the book on Google books or in an ebook form (a pdf works) – even on amazon sometimes you can see the table of contents… anyway, if you can get it up on the computer, open up another window (like a seperate browser window) and open the organizer, then arrange the two windows so they both stay open at one time on your screen. Then you can copy and paste easily from the table of contents to the divisions screen – or, even better, sometimes you can just copy and “drag” the words across and not even have to do the seperate click for the paste command.
Hope this helps! It has made it easier for me to enter the chapter headings.
