I do, although I haven’t read them yet. I came up with Barefoot Homeschoolers. Not quite what I was looking for it, but it popped in my head and I love it.
This is my very favorite quote of Charlotte Mason. It really sums up what she intended education to be. Maybe there is something there that would work.
“Thou hast set my feet in a large room; should be the glad cry of every intelligent soul. Life should be all living, and not merely a tedious passing of time; not all doing or all feeling or all thinking – the strain would be too great – but, all living; that is to say, we should be in touch wherever we go, whatever we hear, whatever we see, with some manner of vital interest. The question is not, – how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education – but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care? In fact, how large is the room in which he finds his feet set? and, therefore, how full is the life he has before him?”
I like all of these ideas! We named our homeschool just for fun, and we call it Rivers and Trails Academy, since our city is called the city of rivers and trails, and we believe so much of education comes from being outside. That would make a CMish co-op name too, Rivers and Trails Homeschoolers. Maybe there’s something locally to you that would be inspiring?
