Seems like awhile back someone had asked about starting a blog and there was a little bit of discussion on that, but now I can’t find it. Anyone know the conversation I was talking about? Or, if I’m just crazy and there wasn’t a thread like that, can any of you bloggers point me in the right direction? I am thinking about starting a little homeschooling blog, mostly as a way to digitize my record-keeping and to be able to share with long-distance family and friends what we are doing (and to keep myself a little more accountable). But, I have no idea where to start! Any ideas?
Blogger.com is free and really user friendly, you don’t need to know HTML to get a beautiful blog set up or to change things around. It’s what I use. Love it!
I use WordPress, personally, but Blogger is a really great option too. If you want your children to start blogging but don’t really want their posts seen by the world, you may want to look into Kidblog.org. It’s based on WordPress and gives you the option to set up accounts for each of your children and anyone else you may want to view their posts. This is a great option if you have pen pals or a co-op that works together on just about any topic. As I am teaching a Web 2.0 class this spring for local homeschoolers, I plan on introducing these tools to them.
