Not sure what 1B is exactly 🙂 but I would consider her Kindergarten this year and then start first grade in the fall of 2018 allowing her more time to mature and be ready to start school.
I remember with my 1st I was so anxious to start but with each of the kids I have relaxed and really realized the benefit of waiting and not rushing. Taking the time to enjoy them being little and learning through playing and being outside.
My third is six in December too. We are planning to do kindy this year and start first next summer. That being said, after she turns six I will offer her more opportunities to practice narration during read alouds. We will continue to introduce reading, writing and math as she is ready. Right now she likes writing a little every once in awhile. She is not ready to read yet so we will do letter activities a couple days a week to meet our homeschool requirements. She loves math so we will play board games regularly too.
If it were my child, I’d probably start 1b mid-year (unless I felt the child needed more time). For K, I keep school activities optional. If they want to play, I let them play. If they are begging for school, we do school. For reading lessons, I follow their lead. My DC have showed readiness anywhere from 4 to 6 years of age.
K here is mostly learning letter sounds, free play with math manipulatives (counters, pattern blocks, etc), puzzles/games, and picture books. Also read alouds and projects with the bigger kids as they are interested.
