I’ve searched.  And searched.  And searched.  Can anyone recommend a spine for World History from Creation to Rome?  It doesn’t have to be Christian based…I have enough here to supplement with that if need be.

    I don’t know that I’m that fond of SOTW…

Have you checked this one out? Nothing New Press: The Story of the Ancient World by H. A. Guerber  I’m planning to look closer at it over the summer.

I have th Ancient Egypt “A picturesque History of the World”.  It looks good — a living book, but not coming from a creation perpective, but I haven’t done much more than glance through it yet.

I’m still deciding which I will use.  I can borrow Mystery of History, but I don’t think that’s what I want.

You’d also want to add Guerber’s Story of Greece and Story of Rome.  I’ve used these all with good success.

I LOVE the way the Guerber books read. But the first one doesn’t go through Rome. I don’t want to spend the next 6 years on world history.

You don’t need to.  I spend about one semester, one half a year, on each of the first three, I finish ancients in two years, then spend two years on medieval/Renaissance, then two on modern history.

Bookworm – do you use the SCM study guides or something else?  Right now my oldest just turned 8 and I feel like the pace of the study guides is perfect, but over half way through the second module, I think it might be a bit slow for a high schooler (of course I’m not actually reading the high school books, so maybe that makes up for it), but I definitely think we could go a little faster with a gifted student the second time around.
