Do the Spelling Wisdom books get progressively harder with each book? How do we know which book to start with? For the record my oldest is 10yo and a proficient reader but not the best speller. My next two down are 8yo and 6yo. The 6yo is doing well and working on her handwriting but the 8yo is lagging a bit and probably at the same level as my 6yo.
They get harder as you go. CM didn’t start dictation until 9-10 years of age. I would start with Spelling Wisdom 1 and see how it goes. You can always skip to where your child’s level is. You don’t have to do every single passage.
I wouldn’t even start with the younger ones until they are older. Don’t panic – it will not harm your children to wait! 😉
I am planning on getting book 1 for my 10yo. I looked at the samples (I think there were 2 from book 1), and the first one looked pretty easy, but the later one looked much more challenging for her.
Spelling Wisdom 1 has lots of material and has worked well with my 10yo (who is not a great natural speller). My 11yo who is a wonderful speller started in the middle of the book, and it is challenging for her (in a good way). I would definitely recommend Book 1 to start.
