My 12 year old son really struggles with spelling. We started with Spelling Wisdom this year. I wanted to ask if any of you who have struggling spellers experienced success with overall spelling after using SW? If so, how long did it take for you to see real improvement?
I really like SW. Just want to hear feedback from those who have done the lessons for a longer time than me. 🙂

We have been using Spelling Wisdom (dd9) for about 2 months and I can already tell a difference in her spelling. Her spelling was so horrendous I did not think it was ever going to improve, but just by doing Spelling Wisdom 2-3 times per week, I’ve noticed a vast improvement! It is wonderful!

Thanks Heather. Good to know your dd is improving. I think my son has a long way to go, but I do see a good habit developing that requires him to really look and memorize as much as he can. His main problem is retaining that knowledge. I am guessing it takes time and lots of repetition. Sigh…and lots of patience. 🙂

Simple Home — How is the Spelling Wisdom working for you now? I’ve had it in my cart that many times but still not ordered it for my ds 11 who has horrid spelling. I am finally seeing a real improvement in his printing through copy work so I think we may be ready to move on to prepared dictation. I have also been considering Spelling Power.

4myboys, Have you looked at All About Spelling? This program was developed for dc struggling with spelling. It takes a little different approach than most spelling programs and is very easy to teach. It was highly recommended to me when I was looking for a spelling program. We are one lesson away from finishing our first year of it and my dd is doing great with it.
