Spelling Wisdom and dictation…

    Hi. I am using  Spelling Wisdom Book 1. I was wondering if from reading the lesson passage should the student be able to know all the punctuation marks that go with the passage? My daughter knows the spelling very well so far(we are lesson 98), but doesn’t know the punctuation marks.

    I have my children add the punctuation in the passage. It is a great way to teach punctuation.

    We encourage families to focus on the spelling first.  As students get older they will continue to learn about punctuation while utilizing Using Language Well.  Over time, as they learn the different reasons/rules for punctuation, you can hold them accountable for that particular punctuation mark.
