Looking for recommendations for beginning Spanish for my 6th and 9th graders. Can anyone recommend something they are loving that is easy to use and not going to break the bank? We tend to travel in Spanish speaking countries, so it is more interesting to them than French, though that might be a more natural fit here in Canada.

I have looked at it, and it appears to be the type of thing I’m looking for, but I’ve not found much in terms of recommendations from those actually using it. Do you use it 4my4kids?

My daughter is 13 and we just started using Duolingo. It’s probably not very CM but it’s working and it’s free. 🙂 It reminds me a bit of Rosetta Stone.

I haven’t bought the Spanish one but I have the French and plan on using it this year

We used the Spanish last year with co-op. I think it’s a good approach. We aren’t continuing at coop but may at home.

We have been using Visual Link Spanish that we bought from Amazon. The kids that are using it are aged 8-16. They really enjoy it! I did a lot of research before finally deciding on this program. I wanted something that could be used for a wide age range, could count for high school credit, could allow kids to move at their own pace, and could be done independently. My teenagers are finishing up volume 1, so we’re about to purchase volume 2. It is mostly done on the computer, but does include audio CD’s or mp3’s. The focus is definitely on speaking and understanding Spanish, not the grammar. I’m okay with that. (My kids are getting grammar in their Greek studies anyway.) No program is perfect, but overall, I’m happy!

I just googled Visual Link Spanish and found 200+ lessons Free of conversational spanish to try. We have used DuoLingo too. Our biggest problem is finding something that is not boring. We also watch “Little Pim” on Amazon Prime.
