If you homeschool in SC, please take the time to learn about the new bill proposed which will change the legalities of homeschooling in SC. If you are not in SC, please pray for us.
Laura.boraParticipantThe link doesn’t work.
JenniferMParticipantTry this one:
http://www.scstatehouse.gov/billsearch.php
It is Bill 3478.
Basically, it states that homeschoolers will be required to meet state testing mandates, must be reported by name rather than number, and does away with the third option (associations with no less than 50 members). My biggest concern is that we would either have to homeschool through our local school district or the state association. I wonder at what limitations they may enact upon us in the future. If the bill passes, it will be enacted July 2014 provided it is approved by Governor Haley.
JenniferMParticipantI think the first link will only work on a mobile device. Sorry. I did not know that when I posted it.
caycecronkMemberI am in SC and just hearing about this now! SAD!
caycecronkMemberDoes this mean no more Charlotte mason style for us?
chocodogParticipantSad! My daughter lives there. I will have to tell her. 🙁
Sonya ShaferModeratorKeep in mind that this bill is only proposed. It has not yet passed. And you are encouraged to contact your representatives and express your concerns and urge them not to pass it.
caycecronkMemberI have called eight of the contacts and will be making more phone calls next week!
