Sue, about the plastics… they’re hormone disrupters, some of them out to the third generation specifically to little boys and sperm counts. Yes, numbers 1, 2,4 & 5 are supposedly less toxic than all the rest (eg no BPA), but when I read the Duck Book I mentioned earlier, I really felt the need to purge all plastics. The phthalates that slough off are my biggest concern. My other concern was that here in our small town, we don’t recycle all that the stores sell. So all the number 5s (for example) go in the landfill which with our huge amount of rain then leaches out into the ocean, where we fish and crab and shrimp. So we end up eating/consuming/absorbing the plastics, one way or another. I thought I would try to keep it all to a bare minimum, but right now, I’m quite lax.

Bottom line, once plastic is manufactured it never goes away. Even recycled plastics are normally mixed with newly-made plastics to then mold into the ‘new’ product.

Rachel, let me know how those neem sticks work out. I’ve been tempted to get those for years.
