OOo, can we also throw in the audio from Diana Waring’s History Revealed? I’ve always been curious about the audio for all three of these. I’ve seen two of the authors in person and the reader for SOTW too, so ‘heard’ them, but still have never taken the plunge. Has anyone listened to any of these three? Tell us your experiences!!
We listen to SOTW in the car to and from co-op. My kids love it and have been known to sit in the car in the parking lot or driveway until a chapter is over. I’ve read SOTW and don’t care for it. I like the audio book, however, and enjoy listening as does my husband.
I have never listened to the others so can’t give feedback there.
Like Tristan, I am curious about Diana Waring’s audio too. Please tell what ages you think it is appropriate for too. I thought it was more for older students.
I’ve heard the Diana Waring audio — and I liked her, but I think she talks too fast for my girls (9,7,5,4) to hear and understand and enjoy. My impression of the Waring audio is that it’s for older students.
I don’t have the SoTW audio, but I’m thinking that based on Jim’s other audios that we do have, they’d enjoy hearing him read SoTW better than Diana Waring’s audios.
We’ve enjoyed the MOH audio. It is read by the author and I find her voice pleasant. There is music in the background which I’ve found sometimes enhances the reading and sometimes distracts for the reading. There are samples on the website but for some reason it only has her voice and not the music.
I had my DC listen to samples of each a few years ago…They had samples on the publishers’ websites. I discovered they prefered me reading to them over the audios. lol Anyway, maybe you could have them pick?
