Well in my opinion is is a very special little community with little else like it on the web, so I am really glad it exists – and as such it is worth taking care of it..like a precious jewel:))
Thank you for the clarification. I got confused because I was reading some saying we’re not supposed to buy and sell on this forum, some saying only in a pm without listing items, and others listing items in a list. I looked up what I remembered from a few months ago and wanted to bring it up. I’m not a good adminstrator, but I do think a member led yahoo group for SCM users is a good idea, possibly as a trade site or a buy and sell site. This would make it easier for newcomers to buy the history books for specific modules without having to gather curriculum from many different places. Of course someone would have to take that on, and I understand if no one volunteers for such an undertaking. 🙂
Is meta-discussion allowed on here? Seriously, an another forum I’m on that is one of the rules, so this thread wouldn’t even be allowed. But anyway, I was wondering (know that I have NO CLUE how to set up a forum much less divide it), but I was wondering, how hard is it to sub-divide a forum?
For instance, the one I’m thinking of (that doesn’t allow meta-discussion) has different “rooms” much like the topics here (Mom’s front porch, subjects, etc.). If there were rooms here, the buy/sell posts could be delegated to be placed on one room only (maybe Mom’s Front Porch would be most appropriate).
I know I don’t see as many posts here as I do on that other forum b/c I just don’t often go back more than a page or two (and sometimes there are some great topics on page 3 but I miss them).
Just a thought. I personally don’t mind the threads and have been able to acquire some used books through them at significant savings, but I TOTALLY understand why it has to be monitored and that it could get out of hand quickly.
I too like the blog postings that some do (incl. myself) b/c then we don’t have to do PMs and can just click over and see if there is anything on my “still need” list.
There already is a CM buy/sell Yahoo group so I’m not sure why another would be necessary. There are also sevral buy/sell boards. I see postings here as offering first chance to the SCM Community (as a couple people have already mentioned). I know I highly prefer to sell to those I mingle with on a regular basis. But creating something different than what is already in place seems redundant.

It would be easy to set up a buy/sell topic area. However, those posts would still show in the main list of most recent posts on the forum front page. We don’t have an easy way for you to filter those out at this time.

Feel free to post links to those if you think they would be helpful.
I personally like to buy books from people I know on here. I think it is nice to help out those I am in contact on a regular basis. I feel a general kinship with and I get the warm fuzzies when I see new curriculum up on the board. I know I can go to the SCM curriculum website but I just don’t have the time sometimes to do that. I know I am probably not the norm but ” I love to buy books on here!” Please don’t cut me off…… 🙂 Tehe he
Just my $.02…. I just want to use it here… 🙂
Thanks Doug, Sonya , and Karen for letting us post our CM curriculum when done in moderation. I really appriciate it. 🙂
Someday I may have some to sell. I think It won’t be for awhile though because I am a CM curriculum junkie and will probably use it till my kids are out of the houe. Then , I will probably start a Library… 🙂
Chocodog, that is a great idea, and a word of advice, keep the books until all your children are gone, you will use them time and again, and then keep the special ones or all of them for your library:))) I would keep all mine if I could, but right now I need to prepare a little for the future…but I am keeping a lot. I had two copies of a lot of books, because I have twins and so I still have one of a lot of what I sell on. Treasure those books, always. Linda
