Hi Sonja! I read yesterday that you will be revising and expanding Modules 1-3 to reflect new resources to replace Oxford. I’ve already started gathering materials for next year, as I see them, and I am wondering if the book list will change significantly? I will be doing Module 2 with a 2nd grader.
The Oxford book is used only with grades 7-9 in the Joshua through Malachi & Ancient Greece module, Katrina. So if you already have the books collected, you can use them according to the current handbook. No worries.
As far as changes in the revised edition forthcoming, I’m planning to incorporate some of the suggestions given by the helpful ladies on this forum. The book list isn’t finalized yet, but as of right now I’m planning to switch the Famiy spine to the Guerber “Story of the Greeks” book, the version from Nothing New Press. And I’m thinking I’ll assign the “Our Little Spartan Cousin of Long Ago” and “Our Little Athenian Cousin of Long Ago” for the grades 1-3 range.
I’m also planning to completely revise the geography, eliminating the current suggestion and building off the “Material World” and “Hungry Planet” books instead.
I think the muddiness is PERFECT. I cannot wait! To be rather obnoxious here … any rough ballpark when you might have the Mod 2 guide revised? Say, maybe before the fall this year? 🙂
Sonja, I am so grateful for your hard work on all of this. Thanks for the heads up on books to look for; I have a couple of them already, and am excited to see the changes. Thank you!
Yes, thak you for all your hard work. Our family really appreciates all of the resources SCM offers! I’m so glad we found it early on in our homeschool journey. Praying blessings your way!
