I am curious if a six year history cycle was how charlotte mason did things or if that is just the ways he SCM team likes to do it. Anyone know?

I don’t believe it matters how many years (3,4,5,6) you take for a history cycle.  I think the big thing in CM is to study chronologically and use living books to do it.

I believe Charlotte had things set up differently. Bible was not intentionally integrated into the history rotation; it was taught separately, with two days of Old Testament readings and two days of New Testament readings each week. Then she had various history readings going on different days. The sample programme I’m thinking of had English History two days a week, French History one day a week, and Ancient History (Plutarch) one day a week.

The nice thing about CM is that you can apply her methods in various configurations. I wanted Bible history to be the main focus, so I applied her methods of going in chronological order, of not rushing through, of reading and narrating living books, of using a Book of Centuries, etc. within that framework and it ended up being a six-year rotation.
