Has anyone used just these books to begin delving into Shakespeare? I have these two on hand:

    Tales From Shakespeare (Lamb)

Shakespeare’s Stories for Young Readers (Nesbit)

I want to begin to implement Shakespeare, but I’m not sure I can get the wonderful SCM resources right now. If you have used these books, will you give me an idea of how you used them and how your children enjoyed them, or not? 😉

    Thanks!!

This is what we started with.  We just read or listened to the stories and narrated.  I would also go get picture books of the plays from our library so they could also have a nice visual.  There are some nice ones out there with lovely illustrations and art.  It helped them take an interest in the beginning.

    Blessings!

When my kids were littler we just read stories from these books and had them narrate. They are such dense stories sometimes we would just do a few paragraphs a day. If they were complicated we’d write lists of characters to keep them straight. My kids learned to love Shakespeare’s stories from both these books.

Lamb’s Tales from Shakespeare is my favorite and that’s all we used until the past year when we added in reading the actual play along with the Arkangel audio dramatization. My daughter is in 8th grade.
