So my girls and I are teaching ourselves to sew.  We got a pretty nice sewing machine for Christmas and have been experimenting and doing pretty well, BUT I’m wanting to try sewing knits – like for shorts to go under dresses and I’m a little intimidated.  Do you have any advice to offer or good tutorials I should watch?

    Thanks!

I don’t have a lot of experience with that but given what I have done, the best advice I have is – get a special needle that is just for knits – I think it is a ball tip needle. that will save you a world of trouble.

have you ever looked at craftsy? there are a lot of classes and tutorials there – some cost $ but some are free – maybe there will be one for knits 🙂

I haven’t tried this myself, but some women sew knits with their walking foot.  It seems like that would slide around a bit less than a regular foot.  I haven’t had much luck with knits myself…or clothing for that matter.  Embarassed  I mostly sew quilts, pillowcases, and curtains.  Laughing

Oh,  HollyS, me too!  If it has straight seams in it, I’m your woman!! Laughing
