For the past 2 years, we have used Homeschool Skedtrack for our organizing/scheduling. But the older the kids get and the more CM we make our homeschool, the more I am running into things that the CM Organizer would probably handle better and I am liking the CM Organizer more and more and Skedtrack less-and-less.
However, one feature that I really like is the ability for the boys to each have their own login to their schedule. Skedtrack allows the parent to “Approve” assignment completion as well as each boy can only see and mark completed assignments for his own day and his own courses.
Does the CM Organizer have any capability for the students to each login (at a minimum) to the CM Organizer on their own and possibly only see their assignments and not their siblings? This latter part is not as important as the former, but just thought I’d ask anyway.
I don’t know about a specific individual login for each student, as I just log in one time and everyone’s schedules are available. However, everyone’s schedule does not have to be seen by everyone.
After you log in and go to “daily plan” section, you have the choice on the left side of “All Students” (shows everyones, including ‘family’); “Family”; then each child has their name from there in the order you placed them in and you can click only on that name and only their schedule comes up. So, yes, as long as they aren’t ‘peeking’ at the others schedules by clicking on another’s name then it has the capability you’re talking about.
Sometimes, I print out all students and sometimes I just print out their’s individually and they do the checking off on their own print out of what they’ve done and any notes I need written down for me to enter into the Organizer later, as they are still relatively young at 9.
Hi, RobMikeMom. There is no individual login for each student. The CM Organizer has just the one login for the parent to use or delegate to individual students as she sees fit.
You can have multiple users logged in at the same time, however. For example, I’m often logged in to our account on my computer at the same time my oldest student is logged in on her computer, checking off her Daily Plan.
Is there a particular problem you are wanting to solve by having multiple logins? We’ve talked about doing that but don’t see much of a problem with kids checking off someone else’s work, etc.
Thanks for letting me know that we can all login at the same time from different computers. We all have our own in this house as my husband is also a retired software engineer so we tend to be a bit of a techie-family. In fact, the boys do 90% of their schoolwork on their computers using a virtual notebook called Microsoft OneNote and I try not to have to print out things on a daily basis like their daily schedule. Seems like such a waste of paper when we can do it all online.
I am not so much worried about them interfering with each other’s assignments as the possiblity of changing something on their own assignment list in order to claim that they didn’t have to do that resource that day. I know this is a character issue, too, but I work full time during the day (I am a software engineer) while their dad stays home with them while they do their work. So ocassionally we do have issues with honesty and integrity but they are getting better since we address this immediately. Luckily, with this program at least we can all login at the same time and I can keep tabs on them while not at home. It sounds like we can do this with the Organizer as well.
Thank you,
