When I finish CM’s series, I’d like to begin a classic or possibly a Lamplighter book. There are a few great suggestions for classics on this post already. Anyone have more favorite classics to add?
Well, I have noticed a lot people are reading Jane Eyre this year – I guess because of the new movie that came out (haven’t seen it though). My husband and I decided to read it – we actually got a free download from librivox and listened to it on our ipods. He has finished it and I am about half way through.
I would suggest it to anyone that is looking for a classic to read, it is an interesting book, not too long, and there is quite a bit of online discussion going on if you are interested in taking part or just reading/listening to what others think about the book.
My husband and I are in the landscaping business so we get a lot of time to listen to audiobooks with our ipods when we are at work – he listened to Bleak House by Charles Dickens a while back – it is LONG – and enjoyed it alot. I have enjoyed Dickens on audio because a lot of the books were written to appear serially in magazines so they kind of have episodes. Most recently I listened to Great Expectations – what a wonderful book! So much better than I remember from jr high english class. Another classic I listened to recently from librivox is Huckleberry Finn. I hadn’t read it for years and I found it very intense.
