Hi everyone! What are your opinions on using the Scripture memory online system vs the printed out version? Thanks!

I am a big fan of keeping the verses in an index card file box. We have one in our Morning Basket and have enjoyed using every day now for about 3 years. I wrote about it here:

I love love love the Scripture Box app.  Each of my family members is working on their own verses. I get an email everyday telling me which verses everyone should be practicing, and those who are old enough also get their own email. No file boxes to store, no file boxes getting accidentally dumped and mixed up.

A couple of years ago I spent a few days choosing and inputting about 150 verses and now when someone is ready for a new verse, it takes a few seconds for them to pick one and set it up. Anytime we find a verse that we want to do that isn’t on my list already, it’s quick and easy to add.

Did I mention that I love it?

Oh my goodness, I love the Scripture Box app, too!!!  Every morning I get an email of our verses for the day.  I’m not techy at all but this is one thing I wouldn’t want to do without.  It’s $4.99 a year and I’d pay that a month!

I started the Scripture Box App a couple months ago and love it!

I was “against” technology thinking we would just use the box and it would be fantastic. But I could not get consistent because the box would get moved, from the kitchen table to a shelf then to the school area… I could not find a consistent place to keep it so we would forget to do it.

I don’t have a smart phone, just the computer and a old tablet, but I find the Scripture Box App to be so helpful. I did not spend a lot of time loading in scriptures I started out slowly. Adding just a few verses and as we memorized those I started to add a few more and it automatically bumps the ones we know into new “slots” (month, day, even, odd…). It is so handy because I pull out my tablet at breakfast and lunch and we recite them. Then I delete the email. I like it because if I forget to do it with the kids the email sits there “waiting” which bothers me, so I tend to not forget any more.

They have preloaded the SCM scripture “packs” so if you want to start adding those in it is really fast and easy.

I was surprised how much I like the electronic system, but I find it really is helping me stay on track.

    Hi there…

I can’t speak for the on line app, but I am with Mountain Momma on the box method.  We have been using for about a year now and we love it.

I like them hand written, the kids love the box, and I can see using for years.  My kids are young, but I can see having them write them down later as well as us memorizing them.

I can see even possibly handing down to my kids for their kids. (Kind of a memory thing…only, I have 3 kids. So, who would get it?:-)  I’ll probably want to keep it for memories.:-)  ha!

I tend to try and stay away from too much technology; but that is just me.

I think it depends on what you like!

    🙂

    Blessings,

    Renee

What is the name of the app? I never knew such a thing existed! 🙂

It’s called Scripture Box.  It is internet based so, not knowing a lot about techy things, I don’t know if it’s a true “app” but that’s what I’ve always heard it called.

I use a 3 ring binder with tabs for daily, odd, even, etc.

The app sounds tempting……but my girls don’t have their own technology yet, so with the 3 ring binder, they can review their verses without me.

I’ve used both and prefer the app. Another app we love for this is Fighter Verses. It comes preloaded with a lot of verses and loads of tools to help, but it won’t organize the verses like Scripture Box. In my ideal world, a merger between these two Apps would be perfection!

Need some help on the Scripture box app. When I went to review the first verses I had put in it, it said that there were no verses. And do I need to add all the verses on my own? I’m confused! Help!

If you have already memorized verses before using the app, you can designate where each verse should start in the rotation (daily,odd/even, etc.). These will then come up as your verses to review.  I do this through the menu on the left and ‘browse verses’. This will give you a list of the verses you have, and then use the edit function for the verse you want.

If you haven’t memorized any yet, pick the first one you want to do and assign it as daily.   At first, just that one will come up to be reviewed, until you choose a new ‘daily’ verse and then the first one will become an ‘odd/even’.

Also in the menu on the left, there is a choice for predefined verse sets, which will add whichever list you choose to your personal verse list.

Also, the Scripture Box designer is great about asking questions, so definitely email him if you need to.
