  • I put this here because it is for fun personal family picture type scrapbooking not for the kids school.

I sold all of my scrapbooking stuff before the twins came. We needed to make room for them in our small house. They were totally worth it, but now I have no way to make scrapbooks for the kids.

Maybe even making one just for homeschooling pics could be nice as our “yearbook”.

I heard that you can make digital scrapbooks with programs or online or something?  No mess and no making space for them which I don’t have.  Can anyone tell me about this?  Have you tried any and if so which is best?  I would like the option of printing it and having one to hold and look at. Thanks

I use Scrapbook Max! You can download a free sample and use it for 2 weeks or so. After that, if you’re interested, you can order their CD Rom to download to your computer. I found it very simple to use. I use to do Creative Memories scrapbooking when my oldest two were little, that was before the digital camera age; It got very expensive and took up a lot of space. Digital scrapbooking is so much easier, cheaper, quicker, and looks beautiful. You can either print the pages out, email them to friends & family, use them for a school yearbook or school notebooking, put them on a website or blog, etc. We’ve even take pictures during outdoor nature study and created a nature scrapbook, etc. Lots of options and the tutorials teach you every step of the way.

http://www.scrapbookmax.com  You can select the Free Trial – its worth it Smile. Have fun!

I second going with digital scrapbooking.  I’ve been a Paint Shop Pro addict for quite a while and finally started using it for scrapbooking.  I set my page size to 8×10 so I can upload the finished pages (photos) to WalMart and get them printed.  I keep the finished pages in a 3-ring binder in page protectors.  Also, there are oodles of free digital scrapbooking supplies available online and there’s no mess to clean up when you’re done!  This is really the way to go for me!

I use & LOVE My Memories Suite. It is super easy to use, yet very powerful. I’ve tried all of them (for Mac), including Photoshop Elements and it wins hands down! It works on a pc, too. It is intuitive, but ther are some very helpful, free tutorials found on this blog – The Pink Toque.

For years, I was a Creative Memories scrapper, but I couldn’t deal with all the “stuff” anymore and CM doesn’t have a mac compatible program (yet). I still use the CM albums & slide my 12 x 12 pages in. I print my pages at ScrappingSimply.com for $1.99 each, though with coupons and/or prepaid plans, the cost is less.

I am so pleased that I went digital! No mess, I can scrap anywhere. Less money because elements can be reused. Easy to share in a number of ways. Endless possibilities. Now, if I only had more time to do it.

    Blessings,

    Christie

I didn’t think about doing the pages 8×10 so that they could be printed anywhere. Thanks for that tip!

Thanks for the ScrappingSimply.com for $1.99 each tip too.  I did keep the albums so I could still use them if I did that. Thanks

I haven’t tried this yet but I’ve seen one first hand and they come out great.

Getting your pages printed and bound in a nice book at Sam’s Club. My sister did it for her business (she sells hand painted cookies) and they came out so nice. So instead of a paper brochure on her display stands, she has a bound book with all her cookie collections. She mentioned it to me so I might use it for our learning annual. I’ve started taking some pictures to work towards that so we can have a bound book at the end of our time.

Also, if you don’t want to take too much time right now but do something, you can download your pictures to Walgreens and set them up in collages. 4 x 6 or bigger 8 x 10. You can add a title, too. Lots of choices. You can download from your computer or from your phone. This worked well for me as I took lots of pix on my camera phone but they aren’t that good in quality when printed in 4 x 6 pictures. So I made a collage with about 4 of them on a 4 x 6 and they come out great! So there’s another option.

You can create scrapbook page online at CropMom. There is no software to download or buy. It is a Flash-based scrapbooking program with thousands of digital scrapbook graphics you can use along with your own photos.

I use http://www.scrapbookflair.com it is a totally free progam.  You can download it, make pages 6X6, 8-1/2 x11, 12×12 you can then use your own printer to print them.  They have a sister sight called scrapbookplease that you can make books at.  You can download digital elements from other sights and use in this program too.  The program is so user friendly and easy to use my 11 year old with a learning disabillity uses it for her pictures and pages.  Check them out!!!

I love scrapbooking, I love the look of paper crafts, but for my family and friends as gifts I use shutterfly.  I can finish a book in an evening – definitely NOT possible with “real” scrapbooking.  The albums are beautiful and reasonably priced AND often on sale for even less.  Check out Shutterfly, it’s VERY easy to use and they’ve got lots of options without being too technical.

Thanks so much everyone. You all gave me so many ideas!!

I’ve always loved the idea, but not the expense (and clutter!) of scrapbooking. This is such a great idea.

    A few questions:

For those who use the free programs, how do you print them?

For those who bought software, same question…

I’m thinking it would use up alot of colored ink to print. Can you upload to any place to print from either the free ones or the paid software?

Hi – I use Scrapbook Max and love it.  I occasionally buy the extra templates and kits and now have a wonderful collection.  Most of the time for albums I keep them on line, and occasionally print a page.  For the special ones I have the pages printed by Scrapbook Max and sent to me.  You can also email your pages to people which is great.  You can be really creative or just make simple pages using their pages – I love it as I don’t have time to do it all with paper.  I only now do the very, very special albums with real paper and stuff, everything else I do on the computer.  They turn out great. Ink is expensive, that is why I only print the super special pages or have Scrapbook Max do them.  I email pages to people then it is up to them if they want to print them  I back up all my pages on disc and also I use Carbonite which backs up my whole computer, music, photos documents and everything.  I had to reload everything one time and it worked like a charm.    Linda
