    Hi,

The more I look around this site the more I am drawn in but I have a bit of a problem. I have spent so much money on curriculum this year that I really can’t afford to buy all new history titles for module 1. My library has all of the 1st grade literature selections so that is not a problem. I have sotw with the activity guide on hand along with the childs story bible. Would that be good enough? Should I try to sell my materials to replace them with the recomended titles?

We tried AO a while back and found most of the titles way over my daughters level as for as holding her interest. She zoned out when I began reading. The titles here look much more suitable for her. (6 years old)

    Thanks for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Penny

I changed curriculum in October and I had spent a lot of money on our previous curriculum.  I sold mine, I knew that we would never go back to it.  I use the library for the books on the list and I often substitute books I have instead of getting a book listed. Even with selling the curriculum I didn’t want to buy only books on the list, I wanted to get great books to enhance our library so I spent time and care finding great deals and books that I really loved.

If you start with Module 1 (which is what we plan to do in the summer) you can use your SOTW activity pages, especially the maps.  I really like the Genesis through Deuteronomy since it is Biblical history along with world history.  All of the books are linked with the World Cat library system so you don’t have to buy them.  I too had a big, expensive curriculum miss at the beginning of the year.  I am doing a nature/arts K curriculum now and love it.  I was going to start with Module 1, but my oldest is just turning 6, she’s still too young.  I will continue to use it alongside SCM because I’m not good at pulling handicrafts/arts/nature walk together on my own yet.  I look at AO a lot too, but I know those books wouldn’t keep my girls’ interest for very long — or mine.

There are a lot of great ladies here to help and the customer service is awesome!

    Good Luck.
