I am new to the SCM Histry/Bible/Geography modules.  How should additional reading for Grades 1-3 be scheduled?  I have two children in Grade 1-3. Do I read to them? or do they take turns reading on their own? I’m a little confused as I feel the additional reads on top of the spine will make History lessons longer than the 15-20min lessons that Charlotte advised for this age.

    Thank you

We are doing Module 1 with a first and third grader this year, and I haven’t noticed any additional reading for that age group… What am I missing?

@Ruth – They are already scheduled in to the guide. If they are going to make your lessons last longer than 15-20 minutes, then plan to read the extra books later in the day or the next day.

@vikingkirken – In the Ancient Epypt guide, the extra readings for grades 1-3 don’t come until the second term, if I remember correctly.

Aah, that would explain it 🙂  We’re only on about lesson 25!

Thank you Sheraz – that makes sense.  So for scheduling my day, would you recommend planning on scheduling 2 history sessions – or on the whole can both books be read in the 15-20min slot?

They will go longer. If you have trouble with the kids attention, I would split it up. I didn’t because they were totally into the story in Boy of the Pyramids. 😉
