  • My dd 9 is reading living books and also doing Jack’s Insects with the SCM companion book for science. I would like to add in a little extra with a fun inexpensive workbook or something for even more science knowledge. Anyone have suggestions?

    Thank you!

Are you in the United States?

Yes I am! I’m heading to shop around tomorrow, so I’m hoping to have a few suggestions.

We are also looking for some extra science to add for my science loving kiddo’s. We too are using living books and Outdoor Secrets. I’ve come across a few things but haven’t chosen anything yet. I’d also love to hear other opinion’s.

Actually, my suggestion only helps if you are NOT in the United States.  (It is a beta of an Elementary Series by J. Wile (author of the High School Apologia Science books) – I imagine that the seperation agreement with them included a restriction to not have a competing Science book in the States for a number of years.)

I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but my science-loving son found The Complete Book of Science at Half-Price Books last year (for grades 3-4). It was only $5 or so ($15 was the sticker price).  It has sections on dinosaurs, the body, health, nutrition, earth, weather, electricity, etc. Work-booky, but he generally likes that stuff:)  However, he hasn’t done much w/it, just a few pages. I think he’d enjoy it if I assigned it for school, but it’s just for free time right now:)  Gina

Thanks everyone! I may have a question or two when I actually see the materials today. I really appreciate your feedback.
