DD8 is taking an anatomy class through our co-op, and next week the students have the opportunity to give a short presentation on any topic they wish about the human body. DD has decided she wants to do hers on skin color. Can anyone lead me to some resources that cover the topic in a simplistic way for young children?
I know that Newton’s Workshop had a small section about skin color in the episode DNA Decoder, but I doubt a library will have that (unless you have an AMAZING library) and I’m not so sure it would get to you in time if the presentation is next week. But if you are interested, Libraryanded.com usually have the lowest price.
We like the Read and Find Out Science series for unit studies at that age. The one on skin is called, “Your Skin and Mine” and discusses what causes the different skin pigmentations. Your library should have it!
