MLIP – I started a similar thread a while back about lapbooking in particular, here it is:

We occasionally do lapbooks too if anyone wants to ask questions. Not many of them at a time, but spread out. Right now we are working on a Armor of God lapbook and finished a few wks ago a All about Pioneers one!

I agree that it is all in what you make it. I feel that if the child is learning from it, solidifying things in his mind, is having fun, and making learning stick – then do it. If not, don’t!

As in all of homeschooling, balance is necessary. We could all find an area to go overboard in and take away from what was really to be the most important part. Don’t let it become a time hog.

I have a child that was a reluctant and initially poor writer. A weekly history notebook page and a few science pages a week really helped transition that child over to better written narrations.

God has given us the ability to discern what is best for our individual children. Ask Him!
