I’ve been scheduling different selections, and it’s easy when you are working through the books one chapter at a time that continue in an orderly manner. But I’m trying to schedule the Oxford Ancient History lessons, and since they start and continue on different days I’m having trouble figuring out how to do it. I would appreciate any help, thanks!
In the SCMO (assuming you are using it) – just schedule it everyday – and “close” it up on the days the module doesn’t use it. Or conversly, schedule it on Saturday or Sunday only, and on the days you need it for the module, add it to the list through “show assignments not normally scheduled”.
I was going to suggest what suzukimom did if you are using the SCM ORg. Another option, if using the Org., is just to write it at the top in the ‘notes’ section, the book and chapter you read on the day you do it; when you print out ‘reports’, it will show up under notes.
Yes, I’m in my first month with the organizer, so I’m still trying to figure it all out. We are doing assignments Tues-Sat, and right now I have it scheduled for every day, even though I don’t use that book every day. There is a “close” feature? I will investigate that, thanks! Since our school hasn’t begun yet I’m not able to see my daily schedules. Do you do a lot of updating each day? Or do you schedule the term very carefully and follow it? I can see myself changing things around a lot, especially since it’s my first year with this program. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the thought that I should have it all in the organizer perfectly before school starts. But I also wonder if I could successfully update and add things in as we go along.
You can update and add things as you go along – but I try to have it all in…
On the Daily List, beside each resource there is a place you can click to “close” the resource so it doesn’t show up on a printed list for the day, or if just on screen, doesn’t take much space. I think it is a little triange beside the resource name – but haven’t used the organizer for a while (summer vacation) and going by memory…
if I want to add a link to schedule, what would be the best way to do it? Is the “note” section best for it or is ther another, better way through additional resources? I need to add my ds9 daily mental math practice that he does online, as well as some other websides throughout the week, to be used as supplements.
I am just starting homeschooling and CM, planning to purchase SCM, but for now I only watched Sonia’s turtorials. Thank you all in advance for any help I can get.
You could write the webpage as your customized study method under that resource. That way, whenver that resource comes up, underneath it, it will have the webpage HTML right there for him to look at; then he can go to your computer and type it in and he’s off. Someting like “do one lesson online(or however you dilineate this particular resource) at http://www.____ ” etc.
Are you using the SCM History modules that schedule this book? I schedule all of my resources daily unless I know for sure that I will only use them a certain day. Then if I’m not using a resource today I click it closed. I always schedule my resources to begin in August even though we don’t start until September. That way I can see what the schedule will look like as I am planning it. I also schedule everything seven days a week so I can look at it on the weekends if I like. Books that begin after another one ends are scheduled to be used after such and such a book. Something new keeps popping up as we go through the year but I can still add or delete resources if I see the need for change. If you don’t use your resources until later but schedule them to begin now they will be there when you need them but you get to look at them now to perfect your plan.
