Is it possible to schedule the Genesis to Deuteronomy handbook for Bible, History and Geography separately? I know that you can schedule the handbook by itself, but I want to show (on later reports) that I am using it for all three subjects. So, when I went to put it all in, I noticed that there was a pattern (except the first two weeks) of M-W of Bible, Geography on Th. and History on Friday. So, for each subject I put in the handbook with each lesson used, separated by commas. . . . Then I got to term two and realized that the pattern was different! So, I only put in the chapters used for term one.
Is there anybody else out there who schedules it like that? Do you just change it once you get to term 2? Also, how can I put in the specific books for each subject and day? I am at a loss as to how to get it all in there. Forgive me if this is a seemingly easy fix 🙂
As you mentioned, it depends on whether you want your Daily Plan streamlined or you want lots of books to show up on your reports. If you want lots of books to show up, you could put the Handbook under Bible, then put the History books listed for reading under History, and put the Geography book and map drill under Geography.
So for Genesis through Deuteronomy & Ancient Egypt with, let’s say, a 1st grader and a 4th grader you could do
Bible for Family-
Handbook with lessons scheduled M-F
Bible for Grades 1 & 4-
True Story of Noah’s Ark
History for Family –
Oxford First Ancient History, chapters 2 and 3, scheduled for Friday
Pyramid, scheduled for Fridays
History for Grade 1 child-
Pharaoh’s Boat (optional)
History for Grade 4 child –
Pharaoh’s of Ancient Egypt, scheduled for Fridays
Geography for Family –
Letters from Egypt, scheduled for Thursdays
Uncle Josh’s Outline Maps, page 00, scheduled for Thursdays (use whatever page number has the Africa map; mark Worked On every time you do map drill and Finished when done with that map)
Once you get close to Term 2, you could enter the new books that you will be starting then, and either between Terms or on the first day of Term 2, switch the scheduled days to reflect your new schedule.
Yes, that makes sense. Now . . . to try it out I hadn’t thought of only listing the handbook under Bible and not the other two. Thanks Sonya for ‘spelling it out’ for me. Sometimes I guess we all just need that. And I actually have a 1st grader, so that made it easier too!
My one question is, when I get closer to Term 2 and start entering the new books, the ones we did in Term 1 won’t be erased will they? I will just be adding in new ones and not ‘use’ the older ones?
Some of them will carry over into Term 2. Those you can just change the Day of the Week they’re scheduled on. The new ones you can just add, yep.
The only time a resource will be removed from your Scheduler or Daily Plan is if you click Finished on its last division (to finish the entire book) or if you Delete it off your Scheduler (and then you will get a warning, asking if you are sure you want to de-schedule it).
So, when a book is finished, it will still print out on reports at the end of the year as having been completed, right? That is what he detailed report is, right? The one for permanent records.
Yes, any checkboxes you have entered, whether Worked On or Finished, will show in the Reports regardless of changes you make to the resource in the Daily Plan or Scheduler.
