We are getting ready to make our salt dough map today! We are about a week behind and trying to catch up with projects, etc. Im looking for a really good relief map of Egypt to copy from. I have a map but it’s hard to see all the details. Does anyone have pics on there blog of what there salt dough maps looked like?
I went to the SCM links and tips page for that module and followed the link they share. I just googled relief map of Egypt and I think I found the same one they have. My oldest son did the tracing on the cardboard as my two youngest mix the dough. It’s dry now and ready to be painted but that will have to wait til tomorrow.
Good luck and have fun!
ETA: I did print it out and have it hanging up to view and then we’ll use it as our guide to add the capitol, etc.
We actually got our dough map done yesterday but it’s taking forever for it to dry. Kids are away at Grammies for the weekend so looks like finishing it and painting it will have to wait till Monday! Happy weekend everyone!
We’re doing ours next week. I wish I could see what you all come up with! I’m pretty excited. Did you make one map that everyone worked on together or did you have each child do their own? I’m just asking because I really hope we can do this peacefully. My girls tend to get competitive about who’s-doing-what on these types of projects. =-)
Im only teaching one child this year….the other one is only two so I put a little dough that was left over on the side for him to play with. We ended up making a small map due to my son loosing interests real fast! He enjoyed it though!
