There was a post a while ago about where to find certain foods online.

I can’t find it anymore. A lot of you were talking about this company on the West Coast (which I cannot order from!! 🙁 ) and others.

If someone can give me the link that would be awesome.

Also any of you know the difference between using Hymalayan or Redmond Real salt?

Wondering what is the best place to get either?

    thanks

Can you state which foods they were? That may jog some memories.SOme of the top of my head are:

I know I get my coconut oil from Tropical Traditions: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/

Cultures (though many times you can create these yourself or receive free from others who have extra): http://www.culturesforhealth.com/

    Real Milk locator: http://www.realmilk.com

    Pastured foods: http://www.eatwild.com/products/index.html

U-Pick farms (they designate organic ones): http://pickyourown.org/

Check with your State farmer’s market bulletin, too. I found an awesome organic blueberry farm this year by looking through the online u-picks.

If you aren’t privy to a co-op, then you can get bulk herbs, teas and spices from Frontier http://www.frontiercoop.com/

    or Mountain Rose Herbs  http://mountainroseherbs.com/

    SOme co-ops to choose from:

UNFI: call them at one of the numbers here: http://www.unitedbuyingclubs.com/Contact.htm

and they may be able to tell you of a buying club within a good location of you. Just tell them you’re looking for an existing buying club near you and are there any accepting members currently.

    Azure-  http://www.azurestandard.com/

    Walton Feed-  http://www.rainydayfoods.com/

As for the salt-I’m sure there are mineral differences  and color differences. But as far as using them, I’d be content with either and so I’d get the one where I can get the most for the lowest price.

For equipment: Pleasant Hill Grain- http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com/

If your in TN, GA. or FL. then you can get awesome, grass-fed orgnaic practicing (though isn’t certified) meat at Pleasant VAlley Farms delivered 2-3x a year.

There’s a lot of good, grass-fed farms out there; the key is finding one as close to you so you can assist the loal farmer and economy while proving the best for you, your family and assist in good stewardship of G-d’s earth.

I can’t think of anything else right now. I’m sure others will chime in.

Thank you Rachel, this is great!

I’ll look that up. I am in CT so I know some of these things are not available here. I have yet to find any organic farms in this part of the state but I’ll keep looking…

We are starting to think of getting a farm ourselves, that might be the best way to go!! It is only ideas for now but I am liking it!

I am hoping someone already did the research for the salt as far as the best price, only looked on Amazon so far..

Azure doesn’t go to CT, but UNFI very well may. Please give them a call to confirm. The cost benefits in buying the things we use in bulk is substantial.

Also, you may have to go to NY, Mass or NJ (or they may deliver to somewhere near you) or even Pennsylvania. to find a farm, but they’re there! If you’re buying in bulk (1/2 a cow or a whole goat, etc), it would only be a once or twice a year trip.

The intial set-up to find your connections takes some time, but once you’re set up, then your set.

I think US Wellness was another website mentioned by someone before. http://www.grasslandbeef.com/StoreFront.bok

Also, if you have a Trader Joe’s, you can get grass-fed gr. beef, albeit from Australia; but it’s a good last resource if you can’t find a local source or American sources are too much to order.

Thanks Rachel, for meat I usually wait for the Australian beef to be on sale at Shoprite. There is a farm (non organic) where I could order half a cow but I have not done it so far because of the fear of loosing power again. We do not have a generator and it does not seem to be a priority, especially because we hope to sale our house. I do shop at Trader Joe too!
