I am looking on Amazon and there are several editions of this book by Joshua Slocum.  Is there one that is better than the others?

    Thanks!

I have the Penguin Classics edition, for what it’s worth. Smile

As a follow up, may I ask the ages of the children you’re intending to use this for? This is one of those titles that we’ve gotten feedback that the youngers didn’t enjoy it all that much. I’m taking it out of the line up for the Visits to notebooks and just listing it as an optional add-on in the future.

I have just picked up a picture book version of this story. The title escapes me and I’ve not yet read it, but that’s one additional option.

My kids are 10,12,14 and 16, but my younger two enjoy books that are generally recommended for slightly below their actual ages.

Since seeing the feedback you have given, Sonya, I think I will download it on my Kindle and try it that way.

I will also see if I can find the picture book version.

    Thanks!

The book I mentioned is Born in the Breezes: The Seafaring Life of. Joshua Slocum by Kathryn Lasky.

I’ve not read it yet, but my perusal says it’s promising.

Thank you! I just checked and our library has Born in the Breezes! I am checking it out and then will decide whether or not to buy it.

I was surprised that my kids beg me to keep reading it. They are 11, 9, 8, & 6.
