Safe texting and email for kids

    Does anyone know of an Apple compatible program that would offer safe texting and email for children (12 and younger)?

    The built in parental controls lets you limit e-mail with the Mail app and instant messaging with the Messages (iChat on older OS X) app.

    Is there a way that my son can text without an apple ID?

    You must have an account on some service to be able to do instant messaging. That’s just the nature of how it works.

    Is there some reason you’re avoiding an Apple ID?
