safe social media or chat room for middle graders

    I am a grandmother of a 12 year old middle school young lady.  It is not my “calling” to be on social media but my granddaughter would appreciate someone to chat with.  Both her mother and aunt were homeschooled until they went to college but we did not have social media then nor COVID.

    Hi! My son just created a closed discord server for homeschooled  kids aged 10-13. Hes 10 and will be 11 in April. Let me know if you’re interested in joining 😊

    My 11YO and 12YO have enjoyed adding their friends on Facebook Messenger.  No one can message them other than people I approve.  During the pandemic, they enjoyed messaging their friends and video chatting with their grandparents.

    I don’t know what a closed Discord server is, but we had a bad experience with Discord and my 14YO about a year ago.  I’m very leery about that site.

    True North Homeschool Academy has a membership/club option, and a “homeroom” option, even if you aren’t interested in the classes. Maybe that would fit the bill?
