I have an almost seven year old son currently working through rightstart level B. It is going very well and he is really enjoying math and I am amazed at his understanding and abilities. He is not a pencil and paper kid, so I have done many of the worksheets orally this year. I looked ahead to level c and there seems to be a huge transition to more worksheets (a worksheet almost daily). Have any of you used level c with a second grader who struggles with writing?  Would you continue to do most work orally with occasional written responses?

Yes, I would say it is fine to do the worksheets mostly orally.  I did use RS Level 3 with one son who does not like to write.  I just flipped through his old book and he did about half orally and half of it he wrote.  His brother also does not like to write yet and is currently in Level B this year, doing the worksheets orally.  I am planning to continue to use RS with him next year, doing the worksheets orally.  I have heard that it is normal for young boys to not like to write.  My concern is understanding the concepts, so I am not concerned now with the physical writing of the answers.

    Hope this helps.
