Okay, ladies. Here is a link to the list of books we will be recommending in the new edition of Genesis through Deuteronomy & Ancient Egypt. There is also a link at the bottom of that page that will give you our suggestions on where to find the books. Let me know if that page is helpful.
I’m going to go work on the other book lists now too, so they should be forthcoming.
We just started Module 1 a few weeks ago and really like it. Could you tell me in which lessons to insert The Great Pyramid? I’m a little sad we won’t get to use the new SCM materials for Module 1, but it will give me something to look forward to if/when we repeat it. 🙂
The current module 1 lesson plans already include Pyramid by David Macaulay, which is very similar to The Great Pyramid. I don’t think you would need to do both. If you want to, you could substitute The Great Pyramid when you get to the lessons with Macaulay’s book. Both are great books; Macaulay’s go a bit more in-depth and is longer.
Nina, the main reason for revising the first three history guides is that the one of the main books the guides used is now out of print and difficult to find at a reasonable price. While we’re revising, we’re replacing other out-of-print books and incorporating other great suggestions that have been made by people who have used the current edtions.
We’re going to be starting Mod 2 in the fall. I have the Oxford book and want to continue using since I paid so much for it. Will I be able to use this resource and still incorporate the new changes to Mod 2?
@amyjane, we’re hoping to have them done before fall 2013.
@melindab72, the current plans that use the Oxford book will still be available as electronic downloads, even after the revisions come out. So you can use them if you want to. That being said, in the current Mod. 2 the Oxford book is scheduled only for grades 7-9. So if you don’t have children in those grades, you could probably switch to the new plans very easily. Your choice.
