    Just wanted to see if anyone has a compendium of abbreviations for this site.

    I find myself not having much comprehansion of many topics due to the use of unfamiliar abbreviations. I can truncate and streamline with the best of ’em, but I’m failing this simple chore. Maybe I’m befuddled because I have never texted anything in my life, nor do I chat online.

    Any ideas, ladies?

    Like what is “MFW”? Possibly language arts, but maybe math.

    I am by no means an expert but here goes….

    MFW = My Father’s World, a specific boxed type curriculum that many people use

    LOL = laugh out loud

    DH or DS or DD = dear/darling husband, son or daughter

    KWIM = Know what I mean?  Sometimes people use IYKWIM for If you know what I mean

    ROFL = Rolling on the floor laughing

    AO = Ambleside Online (an online Charlotte Mason curriculum)

    SCM = Simply Charlotte Mason (could mean a guidebook, something on the website, etc)

    MUS = Math U See (a specific math curriculum)

    CM = Charlotte Mason

    RS = usually means RightStart Math

    TMI = too much information

    Thanks!! These all help so much! I think I’ve finally got most of the basic ones (I figured out IMHO just yesterday!); it’s the curriculum or program abbreviations that I don’t always get. So thanks again, crazy4boys!

    Oh my goodness…I am laughing at myself right now!  I have been reading MFW as MWF- as in Monday, Wednesday, Friday- since I started visiting this site.  I thought it was a schooling schedule that some of you used!!  LOL!!  I am so glad I didn’t ask about the Three Day Schedule- that would have been embarrassing 🙂

    WAY back when I didn’t know much about Charlotte Mason, I kept reading the abbreviation “CM” as “Creative Memories”  I was puzzled by the moms who seemed so desperately to want their kindergartners to scrapbook . . .

    Bookworm, I did the same thing, but thought it was because I had been a Creative Memories consultant. Funny.

    Thanks for explaining KWIM, I have been wondering and trying to figure that out forever, ha, now I know……thanks for asking Jenni:))) Linda

    I collected all of these and some others we’ve seen and put them all into a list: SCM Forum Abbreviations. I’ll add a link to it in our welcome & guidelines message for future reference. Feel free to let us know if you run across others and we’ll add them.

    This a pretty extensive list from another site.  (If it needs to be removed, please do so.)  This is a generic site that discusses all different types of materials, publishers, and approaches so a lot of them may not apply here specifically.
